Two 1-hour 1:1 sessions

Less in
your head.
More in
your life.

Two sessions: one to map everything you're carrying, and one to decide where each piece should go.

Book your session

The mental load is not a to-do list. It's the exhausting background process of holding an entire life in your head — tracking, anticipating, worrying, planning — on top of everything else you do.

It doesn't matter how organized you are. If you're the only one holding it, you're still holding it. These sessions are about where the work currently sits — and what it would take to move some of it, built around your household rather than a generic productivity framework.

The sessions

What this is

Two one-hour working sessions — not a consultation, not a course. You leave with a system that actually works for your brain.

Research shows mothers carry primary responsibility for 71% of the cognitive labor of running a household — a gap nearly twice as large as the gap in physical housework. Unlike physical tasks, this load doesn't stay home. It travels with you: on the commute, at work, when you're trying to sleep.

We begin with an audit: everything you're currently holding that lives nowhere but your head. Most clients find that naming it, out loud, to someone who understands the structure of it, is already a relief.

Then we work out what comes off you. If there is another adult at home, or you are coming to the sessions as a household, we will look at balancing the load. Some of it goes to a system, a tool, or a paid hour. Some of it turns out to be work nobody actually needs done. What's left, we build a structure around — so it stops living in your head.

Within 48 hours of the first session you get access to your own dashboard, with the audit we completed together — so you can look back at what we mapped before we meet again. After the second session it's updated with your household map and the systems we've built in the second session, including a personalized AI toolkit calibrated to your household.

What we do together

Two sessions. Three things happen.

01
The Audit · session one

We map the whole shape of what you're currently holding — what's written down nowhere, what nearly fell through the cracks, what only you know how to track. Most people have never seen it laid out in one place. That alone changes something.

02
The Redistribution · session two

We identify what can move, and where. To your partner or co-parent, if there is one (both co-managed and solo-managed dashboard systems are available). To an older child. To a paid hour, a system, or a tool that does the remembering for you. Some of it can simply be let go. For what genuinely stays with you, we build a structure that stops it living rent-free in your head at 2am.

03
The Toolkit · session two

You leave with a personal prompt library built for your life — not generic AI tips, but working tools for your recurring decisions, your household, your specific situation. Everything is organized in a personal client dashboard so it's there when you need it, not buried in your notes.

Who this is for

This might be for you if —

However your household is arranged,
someone became the default.

You manage a demanding career and a household and the gap between them falls on you
You have ADHD — diagnosed recently or suspected for years — and existing systems never quite fit your brain
You're carrying invisible work that nobody counts — for children, for aging parents, or for a household that runs on what you remember
You're running a household alone, and every piece of advice you've read assumes there's someone to share it with
You've tried the apps, the planners, the productivity books — and you're still the one holding everything
You want to move the load somewhere else, not just manage it more efficiently on your own

If there's another adult in your household, the sessions are most effective with both of you in the room. This is not the same as couples therapy — it's a conversation about who owns what, which is hard to have about someone who isn't there.

Why TML exists

The mission

TML exists to return time to women — the hours consumed by the invisible work of running a household — so they can put it where it compounds: into their careers, their communities, their political lives, and the physical and mental health that sustains all of it.

The Mental Load returns time to women. Not aspirational time — actual, recoverable hours currently absorbed by anticipating, deciding, delegating, and tracking everything a household needs. We redistribute that work so the time it consumed can flow back into careers, community work, political life, and the health, physical and mental, that makes the rest sustainable.

Why this is political

Fifty years ago, women surged into the workforce, and the workplace changed — slowly and unevenly, but it changed. The household mostly didn't. Arlie Hochschild called this the stalled revolution: women took on paid work without being relieved of the unpaid work of running a home. The stall shows up in the numbers that keep failing to move — a pay gap that widens after children arrive, and the stubbornly low representation of women in leadership at every level, in business and in government. One reason lives at home: as long as women remain the default cognitive infrastructure of family life, they compete for pay, power, and public voice with less time than everyone else at the table. Structural change requires women who have time to invest in it — in their workplaces, their community organizations, their city councils, their governments. TML starts at home: one household's system at a time.

What we don't decide

We never arrive with a model of how a household should be run, and we don't grade anyone against one. Every household defines fairness on its own terms — its careers, its constraints, its season of life, its shape. Our work is to make the invisible workload visible, put genuine ownership on the table, and build a system the household actually chose.

Who this is for

TML was built from research on women's cognitive labor, and that is where its politics sit. But the position it addresses — being the person a household defaults to — is not confined to one kind of household. Partnered or solo. With children or without. Caring for a parent, a partner, an animal, or a life complicated enough to need managing. If you became the one who knows, this work is for you.
